PORTFOLIO INTERIOR DESIGN
AVANT-GARDE Apartment
The concept of the apartment's design is based on the client's love for Russian avant-garde. She is a costume designer and a film producer. Our client adores the fabric designs by Varvara Stepanova for the theater performances of the early 20th century. The prints of these costumes became the starting point for the interior. Based on them, we created wallpapers for almost every room in the apartment.
Area: 110 sq.m.
The wallpapers in each room have different patterns and colors, but they all come together to form a unified picture. And if you look at the floor plan of the apartment from above, it resembles a suprematist composition in the style of Rodchenko or Malevich. The fabrics for this apartment were custom-printed based on paintings by Sonia Delaunay, a French artist from the early 20th century. The lines from the suprematist compositions extend onto the walls, the mannequin, the portrait of the girl in the study, and, like a thread, connect the entire space. All materials, furniture, and lighting contribute to the overall atmosphere of constructivism and avant-garde. In the living room, we have hung posters by the Stenberg brothers, who created magnificent constructivist posters and film posters in the early 20th century.
We have also added sculptures by Yuri Khorovsky and Tatiana Antoshina... As a focal point in this space, there is a photograph of the art group "Blue Noses" from the series "Kitchen Suprematism" hanging on the wall. Contemporary art, 100 years later, casts an ironic gaze on everything, including our beloved suprematism!
